adult & Teen individual therapy in chicago
Type A to Type B: You’re all my type for therapy!
Therapy for the anxious, the over-achieving, the worn out, and the procrastinator. Whether you’re a teen struggling with focusing in school or an adult who just feels flat out burnt out, ResilientU is ready to work with you.
Therapy for the Type A Person
You’re a hard-working individual, maybe a Type A planner, or an ambitious overthinker.
You overprepared for the work meeting again and re-read the email you wrote 3-5 times. Your friends invited you to brunch and you still question if they like you for you.
Therapy for the Type B Person
You’re the Type B person, you come in late with an iced coffee but still are very engaged and motivated toward growth.
You show me all the group chat texts and spill the work drama but gloss over why you cried the day before. You have self-awareness but don’t like feeling emotions.
Or you’re somewhere in between!
If you are open-minded and willing to learn about yourself, but you struggle with hard conversations and being vulnerable (most of us are), you’ll do excellent in therapy.
You are ready to take that first step!

Where do I start with therapy?
What if I say the wrong thing to my therapist?
Starting therapy is a whole thing.
You have to find someone you think you might like, see if they have availability, AND check if they are in-network with your insurance. It’s overwhelming! Whether you end up working with me or not, fill out the contact form and I can guide you through it or give recommendations about the process!
Therapy is customizable to you and your needs, whether that’s to talk, get resources, or use a different coping skill.
Therapy is to benefit you, so you have a big say in what you want!
Do you want worksheets and book recommendations?
Do you want me to hear you out and give you feedback?
Do you want coping skills?
Tell me!
Everyone wants something different and there is no “right” way to start. You will get asked questions about your history, family, and other things over time but you can give me quick highlights if you are not ready to get into it. Therapy is a process. Just know everything won’t be perfect after one session. It takes time to build trust.
If you’re in Chicago and concerned about your issues not being “big enough” for therapy, don’t worry.
I work with those who are navigating all kinds of stressors and life transitions.
Stressors/transitions can include:
“I don’t really need therapy, do I?”
Maybe your partner, friend, or family member is encouraging you to come in for a session.
You might come in for them but hopefully you stay for you! Therapy is voluntary. Therapy works well for a lot of people but it’s not for everyone. You can always try it out and we can go over what you think therapy is and why it won’t work for you. My goal is to empower you to make these choices!
You do not need an extensive history of trauma to “qualify” for therapy!
Yes, we can process recent or past trauma together but maybe you are navigating all kinds of stressors. Those are also valid!
Individual therapy is a very personal experience.
It can feel intimidating and overwhelming at first but my job is to help guide you through that and show you it’s not so bad once you know the expectations and benefits.
